You’ll experience world-class education while you’re here, whether you choose the city or the outback, rainforest or beach as part of Study Abroad. Studying in Queensland is recognised by several education systems around the world and your home country education system could be one of them. 

If this program is not exactly right for you, other options include our longer High School program, the Regional Study Abroad program and the International Baccalaureate Diploma program for high achieving students.

Our Study Abroad program lets you have a short high school study experience in Australia and learn about our culture before returning home to continue your studies.

  • Have your Queensland study recognised by your home country (check with your home country first)
  • Decide whether you stay for 1 term (3 months) or up to 4 terms (12 months). Study subjects that interest you which you can't study in your home country.

Entry requirements

To enter the Study Abroad program or Regional Study Abroad, you must show you have passed all core subjects in your previous two years of schooling, and have completed one of the following:

Sometimes, we may allow students to demonstrate English language proficiency by proof they have studied English as a subject for a minimum of 2 years and achieved satisfactory results.

Program fees

Fees apply to our Study Abroad and Regional Study Abroad programs. You may also need to pay additional fees for school uniforms, homestay, excursions and tours.

Application and start dates

Different application open and close dates apply, depending on when you want to start studying in Queensland. It is important to allow sufficient time for your application and student visa to be processed prior to arriving in Queensland.

Different school start dates also apply:

  • For Study Abroad Years 7–11: Start at the beginning of any school term, except for Year 12 which can only start at the beginning of Term 1 (January)
  • For Study Abroad International Baccalaureate Diploma: Start at the beginning of Term 1 (January) or Term 3 (July) for Year 11 and the beginning of Term 1 (January) only for Year 12.
