Student's story
‘My name is Moe Pwint. I am from Burma and currently in Year 10, and I am also an International Student Ambassador at Whites Hill State College.
Last year, I joined a Study Tour program with my past ILBC (International Language & Business Centre) School. There were a large number of students attending this program. As a senior student, I was placed at Whites Hill State College in Brisbane, Australia.
During the Study Tour trip I found that Whites Hill State College offers a range of subjects. There are some subjects that I didn’t know and had never heard of before, which made me want to come back and learn these new subjects.
After returning to my home country, I told my parents that I had such a good experience during my Study Tour trip. I really like my homestay family. They treated me like their real daughter which also made me want to come back.
I have made many friends here. They really help me with my homework and assignments when I have a difficulty. During the weekend I go to their houses, and we study together before we have a test.
When I was in my country, I had no interest in maths. When I came here, it really surprised me that I got good marks in maths. The maths teacher really helps me to improve and this subject has now become one of my favourites. The teacher is very supportive.
My strong interest and passion is in early childhood as I really like working with children. In the class, we have learned how to look after newborn babies; to feed and bathe them using the right equipment.
I want to become an early childhood teacher in the future. My plan is to continue my study in early childhood at university after completing Year 12 at Whites Hill State College.
Whites Hill State College is the best place to be’
