A skill-based workshop to build knowledge and confidence using the Inquiry-based Learning (IBL) teaching method. This can apply to conventional teaching or an online teaching setting.
This virtual workshop was presented by Ms Gae Nastasi, Metropolitan Region EAL/D Coordinator for the Department of Education Queensland.
Ms Nastasi shared strategies to:
- apply IBL in language teaching
- foster curiosity and independent learning
- develop resilience in student learning.
'Thank you very much for your teaching. It was a great learning opportunity. IBL is a new and effective approach in classroom teaching for me. Having students at the centre of learning will spark their curiosity. I also thought it is a mind changing opportunity for teachers to put “Theme/Context” based teaching when creating a language curriculum.' – Toshie Ueda, English teacher, Japan.
