Young people fill me with hope—my experience in education has shown me that they are an inspiration. The students at the Queensland Academies Health Sciences (QAHS) Campus are no exception to this. In fact, they are beyond what the staff and I have experienced in a student community. These students are the future—and what a future it promises to be.
Our facilities, magnificent as they are, are an investment in something more important: our people, the leaders of the future, QAHS students.
I believe as Principal of the Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus, with the opportunity to work with these students, I have been given the chance to change the world. I believe the health of a society is measured by the quality of its education. The Queensland Academies are leading Australia and the world in what an education system can be.
When people comment on my personal passion for this position, I reflect on how personal it really is. These students will be the leaders of tomorrow in many fields and their decisions and their humanity will create the future society we will all live in.
The Greek mathematician archimedes said: 'If I had a lever big enough, I could move the world.'
I believe the students of QAHS have been provided with exceptional teachers, resources, facilities and opportunities.
The world is theirs to move.
