​Welcome to our International Student Program.

Ormeau Woods State High School (SHS) values our newly developed international student programs.

Since celebrating our 10th anniversary, our students have accomplished outstanding feats and development in academic, sporting, culture, arts and social areas.

We look forward to welcoming students from overseas destinations on both short- and long-term programs. Our school community already embraces families from different cultures and we value the cultural heritage of other nations. Ormeau Woods SHS is motivated to nurturing our students to becoming global citizens and passionate in encouraging global networks of friendship, education and business.

Our international programs prepare students with the knowledge, skills and attributes required in a globalised world which includes cultural understanding and personal development for our visitors and for our school community.

Ormeau Woods SHS is located just 30 minutes from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We are surrounded by nature reserves and walking trails, with kangaroos often seen hopping around.

Our school prides itself on the four pillars: academic, sporting, community and cultural. Students can participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities and we offer more than 40 elective subjects including robotics and engineering. Our motto, ‘Linking Learning with Life’ reflects our commitment to a curriculum that includes experiences outside the classroom and where there is a strong connection between school, family and community.

We have excellent facilities, technology and equipment to provide you with a quality education, and our staff, students and families work together as a team to achieve quality learning outcomes for all. Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.

Holiday adventure programs

Holiday adventure programs are an exciting and safe way for students to travel and sightsee during school holidays.
