In our recent School Review we received praise for the inclusive practises, our amazing staff and the opportunities we provide for all children to succeed. In 2016 the school will celebrate 100 years of providing education in our local community. We provide Excellence in Teaching and Learning to the students we educate, in partnership with you, as parents.

​Mitchelton State School has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to educating students, celebrating its centenary in 2016. We have provided many international students with a quality education and a wonderful cultural experience.

Our school is committed to developing lifelong learners and each child is encouraged and supported to discover and fulfil their unique potential. Our programs offer a rigorous academic experience that aims to develop a broad knowledge base and higher order thinking skills. This is complemented by a broad offering of cultural, sporting, personal development and service programs including the provision of dance, art, music and drama specialist teachers.

Homestay

Homestay* enables EQI students to truly experience Australia's famous lifestyle.

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment. International students often develop lasting friendships with their homestay families.

  • Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities
  • Host families are carefully selected from within the school community and undergo a police check as required by Queensland law

Holiday adventure programs

EQI Holiday Adventure Programs are an exciting and safe way for International Students to travel and sightsee during school holidays.

There's an EQI adventure to suit every taste - from visiting city landmarks and riding camels on an unforgettable Australian 'outback' adventure, to exploring ancient rainforests and swimming with turtles off Queensland's pristine white sand beaches.

All EQI Holiday Adventures are fully guided and escorted by qualified Queensland Government teachers and staff to ensure student safety. These programs are open to international students enrolled in an EQI high school, and additional fees apply. To find out more visit the holiday programs page
