I extend a warm welcome to you and your family into the Mitchelton State School community. We are very proud of our caring and supportive school community and pride ourselves on ensuring the very best outcomes for each and every student. In our recent School Review we received praise for the inclusive practises, our amazing staff and the opportunities we provide for all children to succeed. In 2016 the school will celebrate 100 years of providing education in our local community. We provide Excellence in Teaching and Learning to the students we educate, in partnership with you, as parents.
I am sure you and your family will enjoy your experience at our great school.
Mitchelton State School has been educating students in a supportive environment since 1916.
We provide many international students with quality education and a wonderful cultural experience.
While we focus on improving literacy and numeracy, we also encourage your child to be curious and
creative; to discover their unique potential.
Our thorough academic programs develop your child’s knowledge and higher order thinking skills
and we prepare your child for high school.
To complement this, we offer extracurricular options like science club, chess club, choir, music, Lego
robotics club, science competitions, tennis classes and our Mitchie’s got Talent competition.
In 2015, we won Queensland Primary Science School of the Year.
Come and join our Mitchie family.
Homestay* enables EQI students to truly experience Australia's famous lifestyle.
By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment. International students often develop lasting friendships with their homestay families.
Standard Homestay fees have been set and these are listed on the EQI program fees page.

* Students enrolled in Primary School must live with a parent or close relative as defined by the Australian Immigration Regulations.
EQI Holiday Adventure Programs are an exciting and safe way for International Students to travel and sightsee during school holidays.
There's an EQI adventure to suit every taste - from visiting city landmarks and riding camels on an unforgettable Australian 'outback' adventure, to exploring ancient rainforests and swimming with turtles off Queensland's pristine white sand beaches.
All EQI Holiday Adventures are fully guided and escorted by qualified Queensland Government teachers and staff to ensure student safety. These programs are open to international students enrolled in an EQI high school, and additional fees apply. To find out more visit the holiday programs page
