Principal's welcome

​Welcome to Maryborough State High School (SHS).

Since 1881, Maryborough SHS has demonstrated the very best in public school education on the Fraser Coast. With our long history, heritage-listed environment and impressive record of student success we offer you a truly unique learning experience.

As a student you have opportunities in and outside the classroom. Our high-​performance expectations, personalised attention and an outstanding staff contribute to students' lives through a shared vision that ensures everyone is valued, developed and empowered to achieve their very best.

Since 1881, Maryborough State High School has exemplified excellence in education. Our school community is proud to be part of the outstanding 144-year commitment to educating students, both in terms of academic outcomes and their development as lifelong learners.

Today, Maryborough State High School offers a flexible learning environment exemplified by our students having opportunities to engage in a variety of academic, sporting, cultural and community programs.

Set in the stunning Fraser Coast, Maryborough is immersed in history. Only a short drive to Hervey Bay and the beautiful beaches provides the gateway to K'gari. Hervey Bay is a unique location for humpback whales—there is no place like Hervey Bay on any other humpback migratory path anywhere in the world.

Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.

Holiday adventure programs are an exciting and safe way for students to travel and sightsee during school holidays.

All holiday adventures are fully guided and escorted by qualified teachers and staff to ensure student safety.
