Principal's welcome

​Welcome to Maryborough State High School (SHS).

Since 1881, Maryborough SHS has demonstrated the very best in public school education on the Fraser Coast. With our long history, heritage-listed environment and impressive record of student success we offer you a truly unique learning experience.

As a student you have opportunities in and outside the classroom. Our high-​performance expectations, personalised attention and an outstanding staff contribute to students' lives through a shared vision that ensures everyone is valued, developed and empowered to achieve their very best.

Since 1881, Maryborough State High School has exemplified excellence in education. Our school community is proud to be part of the outstanding 142-year commitment to educating students, both in terms of academic outcomes and their development as lifelong learners.

Today, Maryborough State High School offers a flexible learning environment exemplified by our students having opportunities to engage in a variety of academic, sporting, cultural and community programs.

As a vibrant part of the World Heritage listed K'gari (Fraser Island) area, the town of Maryborough is steeped in history, and just a short drive to Hervey Bay provides the stepping off point to K'gari, the location of some of the world’s best whale watching encounters.

Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.

Holiday adventure programs

Holiday adventure programs are an exciting and safe way for students to travel and sightsee during school holidays.
