Principal's welcome

​​MacGregor State High School is a thriving education community that draws on its members’ diverse backgrounds, experience and talents to forge success.

Our dedicated staff and an innovative curriculum support personal excellence and achievement and will provide you with many opportunities to enjoy all facets of school life through a variety of academic, sporting and cultural activities.

At MacGregor these focus areas are underpinned by high standards, aspiration and opportunity to enable all our students to become ‘The Best We Can Be’. Exceptionally gifted students also enjoy accelerated learning through our 'Honours' Signature Programs.

As a senior school student you can also benefit from our close associations with leading universities by taking part in high school programs with Griffith University, The University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. Over the years, it has been shown that students with a strong academic performance, high levels of motivation and good organisational skills can do very well with early university studies.

MacGregor State High School is located 13 kilometres from Brisbane city centre, close to Griffith University and the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, with excellent access to public transport, including the city busway, parks and shopping centre.

We have a reputation for academic excellence and a learning environment that inspires, challenges and rewards. We are proud of our school community, which has a strength of diversity supported by compassion and respect from staff and students from more than 60 cultural backgrounds.

Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.
