Principal's welcome

​​​​Welcome to Kirwan State High School. A great school and a good place to be. We are located in Townsville, North Queensland which has a tropical climate with over 300 days of sunshine. Kirwan High is a large diverse school with more than 2000 students. We offer excellent programs including sports, the arts, science and technology. We also have Leadership programs, programs for student wellbeing, school musicals and much more. Our facilities include large sporting ovals, a swimming pool, gymnasium, scientific laboratories, an aquaculture facility and many modern classrooms.

In preparing students to be tomorrow’s citizens, our curriculum is infused with the concepts of international mindedness and intercultural understanding.

Being an international student at Kirwan High is a wonderful Australian experience. Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.

Holiday adventure programs are an exciting and safe way for students to travel and sightsee during school holidays.
