​I am very pleased to welcome you to Ipswich State High School, a school of many opportunities.

Our school is just 40 minutes from Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, and close to the beaches and the mountains.  
You are part of the best Queensland has to offer when you enrol at Ipswich High.

Whatever your skills or interests, we will help you become an expert – are you a dancer, a cook or a carpenter?  Do you love science, engineering or sport?  Have you ever thought of being a hairdresser or a make-up artist?

Students at our school can do all these things and more.  Our staff and student mentors will guide you every step of the way and provide advice and motivation as you choose your career path.

At Ipswich State High School (SHS), we offer a wide range of subjects that prepare students for tertiary and vocational pathways. Students can choose courses that include academic subjects such as physics, engineering, chemistry, specialist maths and English, as well as vocational subjects in the areas of dance, hospitality, health, hair & beauty or construction. Year 11 students can study a university subject while at our school through the Head Start Program at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). With so many subject choices and programs on offer, our aim is to prepare you for any career.

Students will be offered individual case management as well as English language support as part of their program. We value diversity and different cultures and this includes the acknowledgement of the traditional land owners.

Join us at Ipswich SHS, only 50 minutes from Brisbane central business district (CBD), and have the opportunity to make friendships for life.

Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.
