Principal's welcome

Welcome to Brisbane State High School.

Since 1921, Brisbane State High School has come to symbolise and exemplify excellence in public school education. Today, we offer a truly unique learning environment.

Students are surrounded by possibility and opportunity in many diverse areas of academia, sport, culture, international experience and community responsibility. This environment, coupled with high performance expectations and personalised attention, has led to an unparalleled record of success by our students.

Our outstanding staff have contributed to students’ lives over the years. Inspirational teaching and quality learning are cornerstones of our school.

Being a 'State High' student means something special. Our students have gone on to contribute to their state and country through their achievements at the highest levels in public life, business and community. Our past students talk to us about their passion for their school and the opportunities it provided.

The school has a strong direction underpinned by 4 core values—learning, excellence, respect and public education.

We love knowledge, learning and curiosity. We are all about learning and believe that all people can learn and improve. We strive for world class standards and personal bests. We are committed to personal excellence.

We earn respect for our integrity, humility and altruism. We proudly uphold the best of public education values—opportunities to excel regardless of personal circumstance. We believe that the pursuit of knowledge equips and enables our students to make a powerful difference in the world.

Our great strength is the partnerships we forge between students, staff, parents and the wider community. These partnerships enable us to build on the strengths of tradition and performance and to live out our values and our commitment to providing a world class education for every student.

We're delighted to be able to share our school with you. Everyone we know is very pleased to be part of the State High family.
