​​​​​​Welcome to Balmoral State High School! At our wonderful school, we focus on our students. We have a reputation for providing excellent teaching across all curriculum areas, with a focus on Science and Technology, including Aerospace.

As a small school, we know our students as individuals and we look after them in a caring and supportive environment. We also know that students need to be coached to excellence through high expectations. It is these high expectations, combined with our unyielding desire to ensure a successful future for every student, which is encapsulated in our school motto – Real Opportunities, Real Outcomes, Real Futures. Balmoral State High School is one of the limited Aerospace Gateway schools in Queensland to accept international students, enabling students access to partnerships with Aviation Australia and Boeing Australia offering real opportunities and industry experience with scientists and engineers on real projects.

Located in a leafy pocket of Brisbane, 5 kilometres from the Brisbane city centre, with strong community engagement and values, the local community is characterised by distinctive Queensland architecture, beautiful city views and river access. There are many community activities available including hockey, football, rugby, netball, water polo, sailing and cultural and intellectual pursuits.

At Balmoral, each student is treated as an individual which ensures personal attention for every student—academically, culturally and socially. The International Student Program is a distinctive feature of our school. We value diversity and believe that as citizens of a global community, our school is enriched by the cultural interchange offered by this program.

Homestay and accommodation

By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment.

Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, three meals a day, and access to transport to and from school, and to school activities.
