Our school community places great importance on sound values, such as good manners, considerate behaviour and pride in our school and ourselves. We believe that your education is a partnership between your school and home, and we greatly value family involvement in providing you with the very best education possible in a safe, secure and happy environment.
"Creating the Future" is our school motto and we focus on developing your reading and comprehension skills, numeracy and understanding through our "YuMi Deadly Maths" program. Our strong curriculum is balanced with many opportunities for you in sport and music.
Thank you for your interest in Annandale State School - we hope to have the opportunity to share our community with you soon.
Annandale State School is a large school for
Prep to Year 6 students, located in a suburb
in the heart of tropical Townsville and close to
shopping, parks and sporting facilities.
Our motto is ‘Creating the Future’, and we balance
academic studies with music, sport and learning support.
We value good manners and pride in ourselves and our
school, and we welcome parents being involved.
Our curriculum includes a real-world mathematics
program developed by the Queensland University of
Technology (QUT) to improve learning and encourage
students to participate in higher-level mathematics.
We also use the Seven Steps to Writing Success program.
All students participate in a music lesson each
week, and Years 3 to 6 can choose to learn to
play an instrument and sing in a choir.
Annandale is a feeder school to the local state
high school – William Ross State High School.
In 2017, we welcomed 62 international students.
Homestay* enables EQI students to truly experience Australia's famous lifestyle.
By living with an Australian host family international students become part of the local community and have a fantastic opportunity to practise their English in a safe and caring home environment. International students often develop lasting friendships with their homestay families.
Standard Homestay fees have been set and these are listed on the EQI program fees page.

* Students enrolled in Primary School must live with a parent or close relative as defined by the Australian Immigration Regulations.
EQI holiday adventure programs are an exciting and safe way for international students to travel and sightsee during school holidays.
There's an adventure to suit every taste - from visiting city landmarks and riding camels on an unforgettable Australian outback adventure, to exploring ancient rainforests and swimming with turtles off Queensland's pristine white sand beaches.
All holiday adventures are fully guided and escorted by qualified Queensland Government teachers and staff to ensure student safety. These programs are open to international students enrolled in an EQI high school and additional fees apply. Find out more about our holiday adventure programs.
