Nan completed Year 8 and 9 at Bundaberg State High School and then transferred to the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries, Brisbane with the help of her inspiring International Student Coordinator in Bundaberg.
She says, in Queensland the teachers encourage and nurture you to be your very best, achieving remarkable outcomes.
She also says, although she was the only Chinese student in Bundaberg, she never felt different. The community and school embraced her and her mum as locals.
She quickly made friends for life and any concerns she had quickly vanished as her new life became the best life.
Her regional Queensland experience will forever stay in her heart as the true Australian experience.
Her advice for anyone thinking about studying in a Queensland state high school is to be brave and explore the world.
