Our Primary School program is a fun way to start schooling in Queensland. If you don’t speak English as a first language, we teach special English lessons to make sure you have the skills you need for classroom and other school activities.

Our Primary School program includes all areas of early learning, such as reading, writing and numbers, as well as sports and other activities. It is a helpful start if you want to go on to study high school in Queensland.

Entry requirements

There are no minimum English requirements for overseas students joining primary school in Queensland. We will give special English lessons to make sure all overseas students have the English level they need for their classroom activities, and other school activities.

  • If you are starting Prep or Year 1 in Queensland, there are no minimum requirements for academics.
  • If you are starting in Years 2 to 6 in Queensland, you must have passed your main school subjects for the past 2 years.

Fees apply to our Primary School program. You may also need to pay additional fees for school uniforms, homestay, excursions and tours.

Application and start dates

Different application open and close dates apply depending on when you want to start studying in Queensland. It is important to allow sufficient time for your application and student visa to be processed prior to arriving in Queensland.

Different school start dates also apply:

  • For Prep to Year 5: Start at the beginning of any school term (January, April, July and October)
  • For Year 6: Start at the beginning of term 1 (January). Students may have to get special permission from the school to start in terms 3 or 4 because that is when important exams are held.

  2. Use our search tool to find a school in the area* you want to live.
  3. Find an agent to get advice and help preparing your application or submit your application directly with us.
