Welcome to The Gap State High School
Our school has proudly supported the education of this community and surrounding suburbs for more than 60 years. Since my appointment as principal in 2017, I have had the privilege of leading our school during a time of significant growth, with new facilities and dedicated staff joining us to meet the needs of our expanding community.
At The Gap State High School, our vision is clear: Educating the whole person within a supportive local school community. We believe in 'Learners Who Flourish'—and by learners, we mean not only our students, but also our teachers, staff, parents, and community members. Together, we are building a true learning hub where lifelong learning is nurtured and celebrated.
Our school has a proud history of academic achievement, complemented by excellence in music, visual arts, leadership, sport, outdoor education, and language studies. Programs such as our academic honours, accelerated music, elite volleyball program, applied positive psychology, and extensive visual arts offerings ensure that each student has opportunities to extend, accelerate, and challenge themselves. Our staff design innovative curriculum pathways that highlight student abilities while honouring the aspirations of families.
We are also fortunate to provide outstanding facilities, including our state-of-the-art STEAM building, the unique Tula Art Gallery, and one of the largest school sports halls in Queensland—a facility alive with activity most days, nights and weekends as students and community members participate in volleyball, basketball, fitness and recreation.
At the heart of our school is a focus on wellbeing and belonging. Through programs such as connect, which emphasises gratitude, empathy and mindfulness, we ensure that every student feels connected, supported, and empowered to succeed. Our goal is that each young person finds their place, develops their talents, and builds the confidence to achieve their potential across all aspects of life.
Beyond the classroom, we encourage every student to engage actively in co-curricular opportunities that develop teamwork, resilience and leadership. These experiences not only enrich academic learning but also prepare students for future study, work and life beyond school.
As Executive Principal, it is important to me that every family feels welcome and part of our community. Your child's enrolment at The Gap State High School is special to us and together we will create a strong partnership to support their growth and development.
I am very proud to lead a school where curiosity is sparked, achievement is celebrated and community spirit thrives. We look forward to walking this educational journey with you and your family, as we continue to build a vibrant, connected school where learners truly flourish.
