Central Coast

​​The Central Coast, also known ​​​as the Capricorn Coast, offers international students a choice of study environments in Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone and Yeppoon (near Rockhampton).

    1. ​The Central Coast is a region of contrasts, with the world-famous Great Barrier Reef​, beachside resorts, national parks, historic towns and cultural sites.
    2. The region’s schools offer a choice of high school programs that benefit from regional strengths in marine industries, mining and related services, industry processing, engineering, agriculture and environmental science.  
    3. High school students benefit from learning pathways with TAFE Queensland North​ institutes, vocational study providers and universities, including James Cook University and Central Queensland University​ (CQU), Australia’s largest regional university. 
    4. In 2015, research at CQU achieved ‘Excellence in Research for Australia’ ratings of ‘at,’ ‘above’ or ‘well above’ world standard in many areas, including maths, agriculture and VET science and Artificial Intelligence.
    5. The Central Coast has access to domestic airports at Gladstone, Mackay, Rockhampton and Townsville.
