​​​​​Education Queensland International (EQI) offshore programs are for students living outside of Australia who want to complete studies using Queensland curriculum and gain access to world class universities in Australia and around the world.

Schools offering the Queensland curriculum receive access to internationally recognised syllabuses and associated resources/support through EQI and the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA).

Queensland recognised schools​

A Queensland recognised school delivers Queensland's Year 11 and Year 12 curriculum, including Year 12 certification for eligible students (a Senior Education Profile which could include a Queensland Certificate of Education).

The Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) is a widely recognised qualification for entry into English-speaking universities in Australia and elsewhere in the world.

Australian International School, Sharjah, United Arab of Emirates​​

Based in the United Arab Emirates, the Australian International School (AIS) Sharjah was formed through an arrangement between the Al Sharif Investment Trading Group and the Queensland Government in 2005 to provide quality education for discerning locals and expatriates. AIS Sharjah was the first international school to be granted the status of Queensland recognised school in 2011.

The school is located within the Sharjah University City Complex, close to the Dubai border and a short distance to the Knowledge Village—a complex of international and local tertiary education providers.

With a reputation for high standards in education, AIS Sharjah was awarded the 'Excellence in Internationalising the School Curriculum' Award at the 2017 DEi (Department of Education International) Conference. The school is firmly committed to developing global citizens, with one student awarded a 'Global Student Leadership Award' at the 2018 DEi Conference.

Hangzhou Dongfang High School, People’s Republic of China​

Hangzhou Dongfang High School was established in 1994 as an affiliate to the Middle School of Zhejiang University and operates as a private school with full boarding facilities.​

The school is located in the prestigious West Lake District in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province and boasts a campus environment with well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities and boarding house.

Hangzhou Dongfang High School​ ​​became a Queensland recognised s​chool in 2012. In May 2018, the school was awarded the 'Excellence of a School in Internationalising the School Curriculum' Award at the 2018 DEi Conference​.

Lihir International School, Papua New Guinea​​

Lihir International School is a Kindergarten to Year 10 School, of approximately 120 students, situated on Lihir Island in the New Ireland Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG). The student population is approximately 80% Papua New Guinean and 15% Australian, with a small number of children from other countries also attending the school. Students study a blended curriculum based on the Australian Curriculum, due to the school’s agreement with EQI and the school’s registration with the PNG Department of Education. Lihir International School shares a strong partnership with its community and the school is the focus of many well-supported community events. Staff at Lihir International School have high expectations of all students and challenge them to be successful, enquiring learners while acknowledging individual differences and learning needs.

Nauru Secondary School, Republic of Nauru​

EQI entered into an agreement with the Department of Education, Republic of Nauru in 2013. The Nauru Secondary School was given the status of Queensland recognised school with the goal of developing a sustainable and effective learning organisation to improve learning outcomes for all Nauruan students.

Qingdao Guokai Middle School, People’s Republic of China​

Qingdao Guokai Middle School, China, affiliated with Guokai Education Group, was established in 1995. It is a full-time regular senior high school and became a Queensland recognised school in 2016, with the qualification to accept students in the QCE program.

New Taipei Yuteh Private School, Taiwan​​

New Taipei Yuteh Private School is a bilingual private school located in the Tucheng District, New Taipei City. Established in 2001, the school includes a nursery and kindergarten, junior and senior school. Students learn in a bilingual and multicultural environment.

The school ensures its students develop a broad view of the world while retaining their cultural pride and identity, through various international exchange and immersion programs. The school became a Queensland recognised school in 2018.
