International Services within DE International is committed to establishing and maintaining strong and collaborative international educational partnerships that offer students, teachers, school leaders and schools a range of international exchange programs, study tours and professional development opportunities designed to provide quality language and STEM based immersion experiences around the world.
International Services also manages all formal education-related Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and other cooperative instruments, such as Statements of Intent (SOI) and Education Action Plans between DE and overseas governments and/or education partners.
Through a number of these arrangements, DET supports long standing state-level sister relationships with countries around the world. For more information on international opportunities that are available for Queensland students, teachers and schools throughout Asia and Europe, visit https://education.qld.gov.au/schools-educators/international/international-opportunities
Sister school relationships sit within a broader suite of strategies supporting the internationalisation of our schools and the development of individuals as active global citizens.
The benefits of the formalised pairing of two school communities for the purpose of initiating and maintaining reciprocal educational activities through a sister school relationship can be wide-reaching, positively impacting students, staff and the broader community.
If your school has existing relationships, we are interested to know more about your experiences and learnings, to share with other schools.
