World-class curriculum, educators, opportunities: What makes QA different?

  • Queensland Academies offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

  • The selective entry process ensures that students study in a supportive and cohesive environment with like-minded, highly-capable peers.

  • The Academies maximise the potential of students and prepare them for university through challenging and collaborative learning experiences.

  • In association with partner universities and organisations, highly-capable students are stimulated with advanced academic and co-curricular opportunities.

  • Students are prepared for university through exposure to subjects such as Theory of Knowledge (central to the educational philosophy of the IB Diploma Programme) and Extended Essay (a research paper on the student’s chosen topic).

  • Students participate in Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) which enables them to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience, initiative and perseverance while developing skills such as collaboration, problem solving and decision making.

  • Partnerships with leading universities afford benefits such as Advanced Standing Credits, attainment of additional tertiary rankings, industry experience, involvement with university staff and access to world-class resources and facilities.

  • University-standard facilities include full wireless connectivity which allows students to use laptops and tablets and access other digital learning platforms.

  • Students benefit from a holistic learning environment and a culture that supports success in state, national and international academic competitions.

  • The Queensland Academies experience includes participation in student leadership activities, outdoor education, sports, music and milestone events such as formals and graduation ceremonies.
