May 2016 Agent Training e-News

Apply now to secure the 2016 program fee for Semester 1, 2017 commencement

Every year, EQI tries to release the following year’s program fees by end of June to coincide with the Australian financial year. This means that April to June is an opportune time for agents to assist students to submit their applications before the next fee release.

2016 fees apply to applications received before close of business (5:00pm Brisbane time) on 30 June 2016 for students applying to commence studies in 2017. All offers received by this time will have an expiry date of 31 October 2016.

The 2016 fees will apply to the total initial payment for students starting in 2017. Future invoices for students studying beyond Semester 1, 2017 (students studying for longer than six months) will be adjusted to 2017 fees. EQI will honour the 2016 fees for the total initial payment for applications and payments received by the deadlines.

If an offer is not accepted by 31 October 2016 a new offer is required. This new offer will quote 2017 fees.

Q. What if families choose to pay the fees in full for the duration of student’s program? Can they lock in 2016 fees?

A. For applications received by midnight on 30 June 2016, and accepted by way of a signed agreement and payment by 31 October 2016, the total initial payment will be at the 2016 fee rate, even if a parent chooses to pay all the fees in advance. If future fees are higher than the 2016 fees, parents will be invoiced for the difference.

Free app gives students easy access to Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) services

The 'My OSHC Assistant' app enables international students to access OSHC information and services on their phone at any time of the day, no matter where they are. This free app is available for download by students who have OSHC cover through Allianz Global Assistance.

Students will need a unique email address to create a secure login and manage their health cover using the app’s functions to:

  • access their e-membership card
  • view policy details and information
  • update their OSHC account details
  • locate the nearest direct-billing doctor using their phone’s GPS
  • submit a claim (by uploading photos of their receipts via the app)
  • find the 24-hour helpline and other contact details
  • download and/or print a Certificate of Insurance
  • translate medical terms into the language of their choice using the app’s Medical Term Translator
  • understand more about prescribed pharmaceutical drugs by accessing information in their preferred language using the Pharmacy Aid function.

The app is available on iTunes or Google Play. For more information, members can call Allianz’s member services line on 13 67 42, or contact their on-campus representative in each state.

EQI will continue to arrange membership cards for students who arrange their OSHC cover through us. These cards can be collected from school when the student arrives in Queensland.

You can find out more about the medical services covered by OSHC by downloading the Allianz Global Assistance Fact Sheet (PDF, 340KB) from the EQI website. Additional cover for excluded services can be arranged by taking out Allianz Extras Cover (PDF, 565KB).

EQI recommends that all international students take out travel insurance for the duration of their stay in Australia to ensure comprehensive protection for their valuable personal items, and to access medical services that are not covered by OSHC.

Change to EQI Consent form process

To assist schools in collecting information from students and their parents, EQI will now send the State Schools Consent form to the student/parent/agent with the Written Agreement, which includes the Statement of Fees and Offer of a Place.

As EQI will not be able to enter the student’s campus details on the Consent Form prior to sending the document, it will be up to the student/parent/agent to enter this information on the form. Instructions on how to complete and submit the form are provided in the body of the email template used by EQI staff to send the Written Agreement.

Please note that the 7-page Project Consent form is no longer required at this stage. EQI will only obtain Project Consent forms if a student is going to appear in a promotional campaign. The student will be approached directly if this is required.

Update: EQI Holiday Adventure Programs

By the end of Term 1, our very popular Outback Safari Holiday Adventure Programs were both sold out with 48 students booked on each safari. The safaris enabled students to visit a selection of Australia’s natural and cultural treasures, including the beautiful Kakadu National Park, Kings Canyon and Uluru.

Twenty two students took the EQI Sydney Safari in April, giving them a chance to see some of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Blue Mountains, Bondi Beach, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Aquarium.

We look forward to our Cairns Safari taking place at the end of this term (25 to 30 June). This exciting tour includes the Atherton Tablelands, Great Barrier Reef and lots of fun activities, from jungle treks, to exploring Lake Tinaroo by canoe. To make a booking, please complete the booking form and return it to EQI by 16 June 2016.
