Our early years teachers focus really well on building those early reading skills and writing skills, as well as an understanding of number[s]. They do it through a range of strategies but particularly in early years we 
focus on lots of hands-on activities and investigations. This allows students to problem solve, see errors in their thinking and come to the conclusions themselves.

Our teachers are really good at differentiating learning. So what we do is assess where students are at and we build on that knowledge to get them to achieve success.

So EALD [English as an Additional Language or Dialect] is run through a number of models in our school.

We like to work in consultation with the classroom teacher to look at which activities the students are completing, what activities they might have difficulty with, and really identifying gaps in their learning, and 
in particular, making sure that they become very comfortable with using English as an academic language.
