Bond - Medicine Transcript Caio: Queensland's a fantastic spot you can see it for yourself. Neil: I want to say that Queensland is pretty much the interface between the city life, as well as nature. I could be studying from like nine to three o'clock and then going to the beach straight after that. Neil: Hi, I'm Neil. I'm an international student from the Philippines, I moved here in 2017 to finish senior high school, up at Cairns State High School. Cairns State High School is an International high school and they just made me feel like I'm not any different from any of the other students, I just made a lot of friends from all over the world. Caio: Hi my name is Caio, I'm originally from Brazil. When I was in grade 10 at high school I really wanted to do an exchange. So I went to a local high school here on the Gold Coast I got to make friends from all over the world as well as people from just around the corner. It was really great we had the perfect balance between studying and lifestyle here on the Gold Coast. Neil: I'm currently studying a Master of Science by research here at Bond University. I heard about Bond University from one of the career officers at Cairns State High School, the key thing that she mentioned that I could experience at Bond was having small class sizes, which to me translated as an opportunity for me to have a more personalised learning and then once I started my study here at Bond I absolutely had no regrets. Caio: I'm a current medical student here at Bond. I decided to come to Bond, both because it offered a program that I was interested in on becoming a doctor and it also happened to be on the Gold Coast which is my favorite place on Earth. Neil: I met Caio through the Bachelor Biomedical Science program because we both actually started around about the same time. Caio: And we had a good friendship which carried on to this day and age we still hang out. Making friends here at Bond so easy. Neil: The best thing that we do ever so often is actually to visit Burleigh Beach and just have a good time. Caio: Just from where we are the uni is 10 minutes from here. The surf's usually great it's a international known spot for surfing and hanging out, it's the best place ever. Neil: Moving here to Australia, especially in Queensland, I always thought that I was just going to be a student, but moving here has reminded me and showed me that there are a lot of other things that I can do apart from just studying. I could also have a life, have a good stroll around the beach and have friends from all around the world. Caio: Coming here you know as a young person moving by yourself, without your family, being able to study, being able to achieve all of those things, being work related, being personal life related, it's been a great experience and I really recommend it. Neil: Living here in Queensland has pretty much shown me that there's more than just one pathway to get into a career that I would be very passionate about. Caio: For the future I plan to stay here for obvious reasons, the beach is here, I have great friends, there's lots of work opportunities for young doctors here on the Gold Coast, I could be just happy here being a doctor. Neil: Only in Queensland Caio: Only in Queensland
