Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
It is compulsory for international students to maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of their studies in Australia. International students must provide proof of OSHC to EQI in order to receive their Confirmation of Enrolment.
Basic OSHC provides international students with access to ambulance services and a shared ward in Queensland public hospitals. A Guide to OSHC provides information in relation to the basic medical and hospital services students will receive as part of their OSHC package.
EQI will arrange OSHC on behalf of international students. OSHC packages are available from the following reputable providers:
Overseas Student Health Cover with Medibank Private
Overseas Student Health Cover with Worldcare
Overseas Students Health Cover with BUPA
Australian Health Management
Additional Insurance Cover
EQI recommends that all international students take out additional travel insurance for the duration of their stay in Australia to ensure comprehensive protection for their valuable personal items, medical and health services not covered by OSHC.
English Second Language (ESL) Support
International students receive English Second Language (ESL) Support to develop their English conversation skills and encourage them to participate fully in mainstream classroom activities. ESL Support is delivered by qualified and experienced ESL teachers so that international students can achieve their full academic potential during their EQI study experience.
Details of schools with ESL Support can be found in the EQI Schools Authority Subject Matrix.
24 hr Emergency
All international students have 24 hour emergency assistance and multi-lingual support available.
On arrival at school, students will be given relevant emergency contact details for urgent student welfare issues.
